Cotswold Ewe Sheep Willow Sculpture

Cotswold Ewe Sheep Willow Sculpture

Known for their long wool, the Cotswold sheep originate from the Cotswold in the United Kingdom. Considered an ‘at risk’ breed, this Cotswold Ewe sculpture has been hand-crafted in association with the Rare Breeds Survival Trust, whose purpose is to secure the continued existence and viability of the native farm animal.

Made by talented artist Emma Stothard, who was able to start up her business with a loan from The Prince’s Trust, she was invited by His Majesty The King Charles III to exhibit her willow sculptures, including this Cotswold ewe, on the Orchard Lawns at Highgrove.

Sculpted from British willow, interwoven with wire and bronze wire and shaped around a steel armature, the contrasting willow colours in these sculptures create form and definition. Each sculpture is finished with a coating of linseed oil and turpentine solution to preserve and protect it.

Place in the garden with the Cotswold lamb by the mother’s side.
